Need Money? Requesting Funds from your Investment Accounts
Here is our simple process for requesting funds from your investment accounts held with us. Maybe you need a new car, or are planning a big vacation, whatever the need for cash may be, we want you to know the process of accessing your funds when you need them.
First things first, you'll need to pick up the phone or swing by our office to request the funds from us verbally. You can feel free to send us an email requesting the funds as well, but know that ultimately we need to have a conversation with you to verify your identity. This is a precaution built into our process to protect your funds from being accessed by anybody but you.
When requesting funds from one of your investment accounts held with us, the first piece of information we'll need to know is pretty obvious: how much money do you need? If that amount is over a certain threshold, we'll arrange a conversation between you and the financial planning team. You can also share with us the reason for need the funds (if you want to) and we can give advice on if taking funds is your best option.
We'll also need to know when you needs the funds. Ideally, you would request funds 10 days in advance of when you need them. Due to stock market hours, holiday bank closures, and bank deposit delays, we suggest 10 days of lead time to ensure you have your funds when you need them.
We'll also ask you to confirm the banking information we have on file to ensure we're sending the money to the right account.
We'll also ask you if you'd like to withhold taxes from your withdrawal, and if so, how much? And if you don't know the answer to this question, it's okay. We'll help you navigate it.
And our last question we'll ask if you have a particular account or investment in mind that you'd like the to take the funds from. Again, if you don't know, we're happy to walk you through the decision making process.
And that's it! We'll take it from there and communicate with you about when you should expect to receive your funds. It's important to know that the day we send the funds out, won't always be the day you receive the funds. This varies significantly from bank to bank and can take up to five days.
